How to Connect Instagram to Reelsomat (Step-by-Step Guide)

Reelsomat can automatically publish your videos as Instagram Reels alongside YouTube Shorts. This guide walks you through the setup — it takes about 5 minutes.

Prerequisites

Before you connect, make sure you have these three things set up:

1. Switch to a Professional Instagram Account

Reelsomat uses the Instagram Graph API, which only works with Professional accounts (Business or Creator). If you're on a personal account:

1. Open Instagram → go to your Profile
2. Tap the hamburger menu (≡) → Settings and privacy
3. Scroll down to Account type and tools
4. Tap Switch to professional account
5. Choose Creator or Business (either works)
6. Pick a category that fits your content and tap Done

2. Create a Facebook Page (if you don't have one)

Instagram's API requires a linked Facebook Page. If you don't have one:

1. Go to facebook.com/pages/create
2. Enter a page name (can be the same as your Instagram handle)
3. Pick a category and tap Create Page

3. Link Your Instagram to the Facebook Page

This is the step most people miss:

1. Go to your Facebook Page
2. Click Settings (bottom left on desktop, or ⚙️ on mobile)
3. Click Linked accounts or Instagram in the left sidebar
4. Click Connect account and log in with your Instagram credentials
5. Confirm the connection

Alternative method (from Instagram):

1. Open Instagram → Profile → Edit profile
2. Tap Page under "Profile information"
3. Select your Facebook Page or create a new one

If You Have a Business Portfolio (Meta Business Suite)

If you manage your Page through Meta Business Suite or Business Manager:

1. Go to business.facebook.com/settings
2. Click Accounts → Pages
3. Make sure your Page is listed here
4. Then go to Accounts → Instagram accounts
5. Click Add and connect your Instagram account

Connecting to Reelsomat

Once the prerequisites are done:

1. Go to your Channel page in the Reelsomat dashboard
2. Scroll to the Platforms section
3. Click Connect Instagram
4. You'll be redirected to Facebook — log in and grant the permissions
5. Select the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account
6. Click Done — you'll be redirected back to Reelsomat

That's it! Your Instagram profile picture and username will appear in the Platforms section. From now on, every video Reelsomat generates will automatically publish as both a YouTube Short and an Instagram Reel.

Troubleshooting

"No Facebook Page with Instagram Business account found"

This means either:

• Your Instagram isn't a Professional account (check step 1)
• Your Instagram isn't linked to a Facebook Page (check step 3)
• You logged in with the wrong Facebook account during OAuth

"Connection failed" or error during OAuth

• Make sure you're granting all the requested permissions
• Try disconnecting and reconnecting from the channel page
• Clear your browser cookies for facebook.com and try again

Click the Disconnect link next to your Instagram username on the channel page. You can reconnect anytime — your YouTube publishing continues uninterrupted.
